The Battle of Isandlwana was fought on 22 January 1879 near Nquthu in northern KwaZulu-Natal. A Zulu force estimated between 20,000 and 25,000 warriors defeated a British force of approximately 1,800 soldiers and auxiliaries.

Inyezane (Nyezane)

The Battle of Inyezane was fought on the same day as Isandlwana. British forces under Colonel Charles Pearson encountered Zulu forces near the Inyezane River while advancing toward Eshowe.

The Battle of Hlobane was fought on Hlobane Mountain during the Anglo-Zulu War. British-led mounted forces launched an attack but became trapped during a Zulu counterattack.

The Battle of Gingindlovu occurred during the Anglo-Zulu War as British forces moved to relieve the siege of Eshowe. The British established a fortified position and repelled a major Zulu attack.
